According to the AutoEvolution website , Google has found a way to fix the problem. The latest app update would allow text messages to show up again. A member of the Android Auto development team posted a message on the forum related to this bug confirming that a fix has been added.
Thank you for all your comments. The team has implemented a hotfix to address this issue. Please ensure your Android Auto app and Messages app are updated to the latest version.
It is not uncommon for application or OS updates to take a little time to cross the Atlantic. If you don't notice an update or improvement yet, you may need to be patient.
Another annoying bug causing the Google Maps application to crash is expected by the Android Auto user community. So there is still work to do for the development teams.
